These terms cover your use of publicgems.com. Using the site means you accept them. They're short, because the site is simple: we publish information about public golf courses, and you read it.

What this site is

Public Gems is an independent directory. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any course listed here. We don't take bookings, process payments, or hold reservations. When we link out to a course's own site or a booking partner, your business there is between you and them.

Accuracy, and its limits

Course data comes from public records, course websites, and third-party sources, and a lot of it changes without notice. Green fees in particular go stale fast — they move by season, by day of week, and by time of day. Treat everything here as a starting point. Call the course before you drive, especially about price and tee time availability.

We publish the site as-is. We work to keep it accurate and we fix errors when we find them, but we don't warrant that any particular detail is current or correct.

What the Gems Index is

The Gems Index is our editorial opinion, expressed as a number. It weighs quality, value, condition, playability, and prestige using the methodology described on our About page. It is not a measurement of fact, not a professional appraisal, and not a substitute for playing the course yourself and forming your own view.

Using our content

The writing, ratings, and design on this site belong to us. You're welcome to link to us, quote us with attribution, and share pages freely. You may not scrape the site wholesale, republish our descriptions or scores as your own, or resell the data. Course names, logos, and photographs remain the property of their respective owners.

Acceptable use

Don't attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the site. We rate-limit traffic and block automated scraping, and we may block any client that interferes with normal operation.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Public Gems isn't liable for losses arising from your use of the site or from relying on information published here — including a wasted trip, a green fee that turned out to be different, or a course that was closed when you arrived.

Corrections

If something about your course is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it. We'd rather be corrected than be wrong.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page.
